I have been a resident of Dickson County since my parents, Curtis Petty and Helen Petty, moved to Dickson when I was 5. I attended Oakmont Elementary, Dickson Elementary, James E. Sullivan Middle School, and Dickson Junior High. I graduated from Dickson County High School in 1984.
I received my BS in Education from David Lipscomb University in 1988 and my MA in Supervision and Administration from Austin Peay in 1992. I taught one year at Dickson Junior High while the remainder of my teaching experience has been at Dickson Elementary. I have taught 4th, 5th and 6th grades. I have served as the full time assistant principal at Dickson Elementary for the past six years.
My husband, Tom, and I have been married for 15 years. We have one son, Gavin, who will be entering 8th grade in the fall. I look forward to the new challenges associated with my appointment as principal of Dickson Elementary for the 2014-15 school year.
